Sadie Cecchetto - BA EDST RepresentativeMy name is Sadie, and I am in the Educational Studies program. I am excited to express my interest in continuing to be a member of the Faculty of Education Students' Association (FESA) as the Educational Studies Representative. I believe I would be a valuable addition to the FESA team because of my deep-rooted passion for education, my commitment to leadership, and my strong connection to the program and its community.
I am currently working as an emergency substitute teacher for the Ottawa Catholic School Board whenever I am back in Ottawa, and previously to this I worked as a babysitter, camp counselor and did a COOP as a grade 3 teachers assistant. Beyond my academic and professional interests, I have consistently sought leadership and facilitation roles. I served as the team captain of my synchronized swimming team, where I encouraged a strong sense of teamwork and discipline. In high school, I was also a member on the events committee for our music department, where I helped coordinate events for our school community. These leadership roles have taught me the value of communication, collaboration, and commitment, qualities I believe are essential for a successful FESA representative. Growing up in Ottawa, I made the intentional choice to move to Toronto so that I could attend York University. This is because I recognized how unique and impactful the Educational Studies program is. This program has already played a transformative role in my growth as both a student and an aspiring educator. I’ve been inspired not only by the content of the courses but also by the supportive, passionate community of students and faculty. Being part of that community has reaffirmed my decision to pursue this path, and now I want to give back by helping to build that same sense of connection and inspiration for others. If given the opportunity to serve as the Educational Studies Representative for FESA, I will bring enthusiasm, dedication, and a genuine desire to support and uplift my peers. Thank you for considering my application, I would be honored to be part of this incredible team. Thanks, Sadie Cecchetto |
