Since 2006, the Faculty of Education Students’ Association has stood alongside the community of Wikondiek, Kenya, helping expand access to education and opportunity. Join us in continuing this legacy and changing lives through learning.​

What is Wikondiek?

​Wikondiek is a rural community in western Kenya with a vibrant spirit and a deep commitment to education and collective growth. Families in Wikondiek work tirelessly to ensure that their children have access to learning, while also striving to improve local infrastructure, healthcare,
and sustainability initiatives.

Our Partnership (Since 2006)

York University has been connected with Wikondiek since 2006 through York International. For nearly two decades, this partnership has provided students with opportunities to engage in meaningful international practicum placements in Wikondiek schools, offering future educators hands-on experience while building long-term connections with the community.

FESA's Ongoing Commitment

The Faculty of Education Students’ Association (FESA) has proudly supported Wikondiek for many years. Our efforts have included fundraising, awareness campaigns, and even welcoming visitors from Wikondiek to York University in 2020 to strengthen our bonds of friendship and collaboration.
